I just wanted to draw that shirt and this is what I get?
Yeah, I was recently checking the sketches I've archieved in my room to find the original sketch of this outfit, because I wanted to draw it again for this character of mine to use. I ended up altering it a little bit, though, and I'm still not sure about the colors.) This was meant to be a simple little something but I suppose I was inspired all those designs for pictures I never drew
This character here is one I've drawn many times in color already
His name is Manda. I'm really eager to draw more finished pictures of my characters this year and I feel I've gotten off to a good start XD
I'm not going to go into detail here but I guess I kinda wanted to portray Manda's "brighter side". There are some quite dark aspects to him and the stories involving him, too, but he really isn't that dark a character. His older brother is so much darker.
I tried to draw "real" animals and plants, because I think it's more useful than just drawing birds and flowers and making up as you go. You see, recently I realised how often I just drew animals without really thinking about them that much, but I promised to myself to try and put at least as much care into them as I put in drawing flowers
So! I tried to draw Western jackdaws and a cornflower! Both have clear faults to them, but I still think I did a decent job. They're both there just for the sake of creating an environment rather than to be symbols, even though I love doing that XD I just figured the jackdaws will make it more apparent that this place is close to a place where people live. The cornflower is trying to tell you that that place is abandoned and pretty old, though the window and those walls are probably more, hmm, obvious XD
Yes, the place I drew is very old... Some sort of a religious place, but not very big. Located close to where Manda and his brothers live. I imagine this is the kind of a place where Manda likes to hang out.
I'd also like to point out that because all my original things are self-designed to the point where I've created the world, countries, races and everything (or at least try), the religion the place I drew is related to is also fictional. I just happen to like angels XD And I figured Western church stained glass would suit the fictional country this character lives in. Golden angel, yay.
Why in the woooorld did I draw bricks again? I just drew brick houses a couple of months ago! Oh well, I tried to make them better this time. And added damage!
The stained glass window is probably the most prominent and eye-catchig element in this picture and I admit I designed it in its full glory on a separate paper, but I almost didn't include it XD But I'm actually glad I did. I learned that next time I draw a stained glass window I should color it with watercolors, not colored pencils XD
I'm so sad you can't see the golden angel's arms and the planet she was holding here!
I'll also try to think of a fictional, old style of art to use the next time I draw places of this age in the same country. If we assume my drawing style is "realism" in that world (because it'd be silly if characters looking like that had art more realistic-looking than they themselves look) it is a little silly to think that a really old place would have a realistic-looking (in this context) stained glass window.
I actually like this piece a lot. There is room for improvement, of course, but I feel this picture is very... Me. Somehow.
I'm also happy I tried some new things and they didn't turn out terrible
If you'd like to give me some feedback, please, do go ahead!
I hope you will like this picture!
